Information on our Military offer at Moran Blue Water Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram
If you’re like most Jeep owners, you’re probably wondering how to take apart your Jeep. We’re here to help you do just that and give you all the information you need to know to do it safely.
Taking the doors off your Jeep Wrangler requires you to first fold down the side mirrors and then roll down the windows (if your model has windows) to protect the glass. Then, take the following steps:
Disconnect any power cables by removing the footwell under your dashboard or by the b-pillar. This should pop off by removing the clip that attaches it.
Remove the door straps by gently lifting them off the hooks.
Remove the bolt from the door hinges and gently slide the door off and away.
Repeat these steps with the remaining doors.
Disable the door alarm by detaching the negative lead from the battery and putting it aside, away from the terminal. Then, remove the fuse box cover and look at the diagram of the fuses on its underside. Once you locate the Door Jam Defeat fuse, remove it with fuse clips or needle-nose pliers. Finally, reconnect the negative lead to the battery.
From there, you’ll be able to enjoy a doorless ride around Fort Gratiot. Make sure you store the doors in a safe and dry place. Also, lubing the door hinges will help the door slide off with ease next time you take the doors off your Wrangler. Be sure to take care of the pieces you take off. That way they’re ready to go when you want to put them back on.
How to Take a Top Off a Jeep
Now that you’ve take the doors off your Jeep, you’ve gotten a taste of the fresh air. What about the top though? Doing this will definitely give you a truly thrilling experience in your Wrangler, allowing you to feel one with the outdoors. However, most Jeep experts will tell you that, as tempting as it may be to try it on your own, it’s best to leave it to a certified Jeep service department to remove your Jeep’s top. When you attempt to remove it on your own, you risk permanently damaging the top because it’s more difficult and awkward to maneuver than the doors.
