Your RAM pickup was a big investment, and we know you want to keep it in tip-top shape. The single best way of doing that is to follow your RAM truck service schedule. Your truck comes with a manufacturer-recommended schedule of services, designed to catch problems early so that you can get the necessary repairs ASAP. Our guide to the gasoline and diesel RAM truck service schedules covers everything you need to know!

RAM Truck Service Schedule: Gasoline Models

The service schedule intervals for gas-powered RAM trucks are the same no matter what model you drive, but keep in mind that there may be small differences in the services provided at each visit. In other words, the light-duty RAM 1500 service schedule may differ slightly from the heavy-duty 2500 or RAM 3500 maintenance schedule. It’s worth checking with your local Saint Clair-area dealer to be sure.

For gas-powered models, the first visit of the RAM truck service schedule occurs at 8,000 miles. At this point, a team of service technicians will perform key inspections, flush and replace the engine oil, rotate the tires to prevent uneven tread wear, and check fluid levels. All 8,000-mile services are repeated at all other intervals of the RAM truck service schedule.

Below, we’ve broken down each service interval to give you an idea of what you can expect the next time you visit our Fort Gratiot dealership for service.

8,000 Miles

  • Change engine oil and filter
  • Rotate tires
  • Check fluid levels

20,000 Miles

  • Inspect brakes, tie rods, and front suspension
  • Adjust or replace parts and components as needed

30,000 Miles

  • Replace engine air filter and cabin air filter
  • Inspect axles, transfer case, U-joints, and CV joints

60,000 Miles

  • Inspect filters, engine coolant, brake fluid, and transmission fluid
  • Replace automotive fluids as needed

100,000 Miles

  • Repeat a variety of services performed during earlier visits
  • Check and replace the spark plugs, wires, and PVC joints

120,000 Miles

  • Repeat services performed at 60,000-mile service visit
  • Inspect the transfer case and change the fluid (for trucks used frequently for towing/hauling)

150,000 Miles

  • Replace cabin air filter and engine air filter
  • Flush and replace coolant

RAM Truck Service Schedule: Diesel Models

If you drive a diesel-powered RAM 1500, the service schedule intervals will be different—and the same goes for the 2500 and 3500. That’s because certain services are required more often in order to compensate for the diesel fuel’s distinct properties. The RAM EcoDiesel engine is compatible with biodiesel blends between B6 to B20.

Your truck may also require more frequent maintenance if you do lots of towing or hauling, or if you drive off-road on a regular basis.

Here’s how the RAM truck service schedule looks for diesel models:

20,000 Miles

  • Change front differential fluid (if towing or off-roading frequently)
  • Change rear differential fluid (if towing or off-roading frequently)
  • Replace fuel filter (when using a biodiesel blend greater than B5)

30,000 Miles

  • Drain fuel water separator
  • Replace fuel filter
  • Replace fuel filter (when using conventional no. 2 diesel or up to B5 biodiesel blends)
  • Change engine oil and replace oil filter

60,000 Miles

  • Change transfer case fluid (if towing or using 4WD frequently)

100,000 Miles

  • Replace serpentine belt

120,000 Miles

  • Change transfer case fluid (under normal conditions)

150,000 Miles

  • Flush and service engine cooling system
